Ingredients

Imperial | Metric | USA
  • 225g plain flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 300ml milk

Optional

  • butter
  • olive oil
  • 1 jar fruit filling
  • ice cream

Directions

Step 1

Pancake mixture

Put the flour and salt into a bowl and make a well in the centre. Beat an egg and pour it into the well. Pour and mix half of the milk and then pour in the rest of the milk. Beat thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and lump-free. Chill the mixture for at least 30 minutes before cooking.

Step 2

Ladle of pancake mixture

Place butter or oil into a frying pan and heat until the butter foams or the oil begins to smoke. Pour off any excess oil and add a ladle full of the mixture.

Step 3

A pancake cooking in a frying pan

Tilt the pan so the mixture spreads out evenly. You must be quick as it sticks to the pan easily.

Cook for 1-2 minutes until the pancake is golden brown and then flip it over with a palette knife and cook for a further 30-45 seconds.

Step 4

Cook any other pancakes you wish, adding more butter or oil as necessary.

Step 5

Pancake with fruit filling and ice cream

Place the pancake on a plate and add any fillings ,finally fold the pancake to hide the filling.
