Ingredients

Imperial | Metric | USA
  • 2 potato
  • 25g butter
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon double cream

Optional

  • salt
  • pepper

Directions

Step 1

A peeled potato

Allow one potato per person, it should be of medium - large size or 250g-300g.

Start by peeling the potato.

Step 2

A peeled potato cut into quarters

Cut the potato into quarters.

Step 3

Boiled potatoes in a saucepan

Boil the potatoes until you can put a fork in them and it is not hard. This can take up to 20 minutes. Drain the potatoes and leave them in the saucepan for 4 minutes.

Step 4

Mashed potato in a saucepan

Ensure there is no water remaining or you will have watery mash. Start by using a potato masher and once there are no lumps add the milk, cream and butter and mash some more.

At this stage you can add salt and pepper. You could also add some mustard or chives. Once added, mash some more and serve.
