Ingredients
Imperial | Metric | USA- 2 potato
- 25g butter
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 tablespoon double cream
Optional
- salt
- pepper
Directions
Step 1
Allow one potato per person, it should be of medium - large size or 250g-300g.
Start by peeling the potato.
Step 2
Cut the potato into quarters.
Step 3
Boil the potatoes until you can put a fork in them and it is not hard. This can take up to 20 minutes. Drain the potatoes and leave them in the saucepan for 4 minutes.
Step 4
Ensure there is no water remaining or you will have watery mash. Start by using a potato masher and once there are no lumps add the milk, cream and butter and mash some more.
At this stage you can add salt and pepper. You could also add some mustard or chives. Once added, mash some more and serve.
