Directions

Step 1

Heat 1/4 cup of water in an 8qt dutch oven.

Add the chopped onion, red and green bell peppers, and garlic, and simmer in water till softened, about 5 minutes

Step 2

Add crushed tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, water, beans, chipotle chili pepper, and green chilis with water to pan.

Bring to a boil.

Cover and reduce heat to keep a low simmer. Simmer for 1 hour.

Step 3

Hearty, spicy black bean chili - served and ready to eat!

You can add some crushed tortilla chips on top, to add a little cruch.
