Please note: only the ingredient list has been updated, you will need to allow for different cooking times, temperatures and quantities in each step.
Ingredients
Imperial | Metric | USA- 500g plain chocolate (pay more for good quality for a better flavour)
- 400g canned sweetened condensed milk
- 75g unsalted butter (plus extra for greasing)
- vanilla essence (half)
Directions
Step 1
Grease a 20cm/8 inch square cake tin with butter making sure to do all of the sides too.
Step 2
In a saucepan, break all of the chocolate into small pieces and then add the butter which also should be cut into small pieces. Finally add the condensed milk.
Place on a low heat until everything has melted and is a smooth mixture, do not let it boil.
Step 3
Remove from the heat and add the vanilla. Beat the mixture for a couple of minutes until it has thickened.
Step 4
Pour the mixture into the tin and shake so the top is level.
Step 5
Place in the fridge until firm (anything up to 6 hours).
Tip the fudge out and cut into squares.
