Ingredients

Imperial | Metric | USA

Dry Ingredient

  • ¾ cup yellow enriched cornmeal
  • 1 ¼ cups all purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredient


Directions

Step 1

Combine all dry ingredients and whisk together thoroughly.

Step 2

Beat egg and whisk in milk and vegetable oil.

Step 3

Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and whisk till batter is smooth and lump free.

Step 4

Cornbread mixture.

Preheat oven to 205°C / 400°F / Gas Mark 6.

Lightly coat a 25cm (10") Cast Iron Skillet with spray cooking oil and transfer batter to skillet.

Place on center rack in oven and bake for 20 minutes.

Remove and let stand for 10 minutes before flipping onto cooling rack.

Slice warm and serve.
