Ingredients

Imperial | Metric | USA
  • 250g mince (lean steak)
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 small baguette
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Optional

  • garlic spices
  • ketchup relish
  • cheese
  • salad

Directions

Step 1

Baguette in oven

If the baguette is the bake-your-own type from the supermarket then follow the instructions on the packet to cook. Usually 10 minutes at 180°C / 350ºF / gas mark 4 and then 5-10 minutes to cool.

Step 2

Chopped onion

Roughly chop the onion (and garlic).

Step 3

Onion in a frying pan

Gently fry the onion (plus garlic & spices) in a little olive oil until the onions soften and brown slightly.

Step 4

Mince and onion in a food processor

Using a food processor blitz the mince together with the onions (& spices).

Step 5

Mince shaped with cling film

Using 2 sheets of cling film squash the mix into the desired size & shape for the baguette. (Remember the meat will shrink slightly when cooking so make it ~1cm larger than the bread).

Step 6

Burger in a grill

Grill the burger under a medium heat for 10-15 minutes until cooked all the way through. Add cheese and replace under the grill for another minute if desired.

Step 7

A prepared beefcake baguette

Serve the burger in the baguette and add desired toppings e.g. ketchup relish, salad etc.
