My Patients Depend on me to Buy Meat Online

Running the kitchen of a busy, full care home is certainly not an easy job but I do enjoy it. I’ve got my own way of doing things and after twenty years experience I didn’t think there was much I didn’t know about catering. I don’t mean that to sound arrogant, by the way but I’d learnt from my mistakes, from seeing other people make mistakes and know my business inside out. I’m well organised and meticulous when it comes to planning.

What My Job Involves

I’m responsible for planning menus, buying all of the ingredients and ensuring that all of the patients’ dietary needs are met. We have to factor in diabetes, allergies and intolerances and illnesses too as well as digestive problems and cholesterol levels so all of the food which leaves my kitchen has to be appetising and healthy, as well as suitable for a variety of needs.

Running a business though means that we have to be able to do all of the above whilst being mindful of the costs, so everything we do has to be to a strict budget. Again, I don’t mean that to sound cold hearted but we can only continue to care for our patients for as long as we can afford to do so, so costing is imperative.

That’s the precise reason why every supplier we use has to be of the highest quality for the most reasonable cost and I’d never considered that there might be a better way of getting our supplies than the traditional butchers or wholesalers.

With rising costs though as well as a noticeable drop in quality from our suppliers I knew it was time to start shopping around for a new butchers. Some of the patients had complained that the quality of the meat was starting to fall below standards and to be honest I’d noticed the same myself. Beef was fatty and stringy whilst the white meats were often dry and with complaints starting to mount up it was definitely time to start looking around.

Buy Meat Online – It’s The Future!

I buy all of the trade magazines and journals as well as going on as many courses and seminars as I can manage so I started to hunt around and ask people in similar positions how they managed. I couldn’t believe how simple the answer was. I buy shoes online so why not think to buy meat online?

I tried it at home first, not telling the family where I’d brought the meat from as I served up a full roast Sunday lunch. The compliments I received were enough to convince me that the online butchers was the right decision for work too and as soon as I told the Home Manager about my plan to buy meat online she was just as enthusiastic as I was.

We placed our first order with more than a little trepidation but we needn’t have been concerned when we had full stomachs, empty plates and happy smiles from all of our patients time after time. We’ve never been happier with a supplier.
